Pilot Projects and collaborative class

From a.y. 2021-22 due to Covid-19 pandemic and according to Politecnico di Milano regulations Architectural Design Studio was delivered in blended mode. The class was held part in presence and part in distance mode. The School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering gave financial support in the frame of three years Post-Covid program through Pilot Projects funded by Politecnico di Milano. Architectural Desing Studio got funds in the “collaborative class” category.

Consequently, a mutual exchange relationship has been activated with Poznan Polytechnic University of Technology namely with the courses of Theory and Fundamentals of Interior Architectural Design and Technology (Interior Design Course of Study Bachelor Sem1),

Ergonomics and Interior Design for the Elderly and Disabled Persons (Interior Design Course of Study Masters Sem1) both directed by prof. Agata Bonenberg at the Faculty of Architecture.

The collaboration with the Poznan Polytechnic (Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning and Institute of Interior Design and Industrial Design) has been ongoing for several years both in the field of research and of teaching so the

collaborative classroom represented a further reinforcement for a network already active. On the theoretical side, the collaboration involved the exchange of preparatory knowledge for design, through lectures (provided online) relating to the following fundamental areas:

– basic tools aimed at arranging a residential layout in a multistorey building

– input addressed to design the post-pandemic house with more flexible dwellings, in which the partitions an arrangement different from the traditional sequence of rooms accessed by corridors and lobbies. In a particular way, the teaching activity was focused on providing houses with private and collective working spaces, shared facilities, and a large amount of “intermediate” spaces such as loggias, galleries, balconies, and terraces.

– advanced design tools addressed to Ergonomics and Interior Design both for elderly and disabled people.
